Women's Basketball Falls in the USCAA National Championship Game

UNIONTOWN, PA (March 4, 2017) - The #2 seeded Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball fell in the USCAA Div. 2 National Championship to #1 Central Maine Saturday night, 74-57, at Penn State Fayette. Central Maine came into the game with a record of 32-1 on the season. PSU-LV finished the season with a record of 21-4.

PSU-LV beat #7 Albany College of Pharmacy 60-51 in the quarterfinals on Thursday evening to advance to the final four. In the final four, PSU-LV defeated #6 Villa Maria College, 68-51, Friday evening to advance to the National Championship game, the first ever appearance for PSU-LV.  Senior, Ashley Gordon, and freshman, Ebony Sanders, were selected to the Women's Division 2 All-Tournament team. 

PSU-LV had a historically year; with the best record in school history, Andrea Watkins being named National & PSUAC Player of the Year, being named USCAA 1st Team All-American, PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference, scoring 1,000 career points. Ashley Gordon being named the 1st player in PSU-LV history to score 1,000 career points, being named USCAA 2nd Team All-American, PSUAC 1st Team All-Conference. Ebony Sanders being named USCAA 2nd Team All-American, PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference. Hannah Bankes being named to the USCAA National All-Academic Team and PSUAC 2nd Team All-Conference. Lorie Khalil was named PSUAC Coach of the Year.  The team will graduate only one senior, Ashley Gordon, and will look to make a championship run in the 2017-2018 season.
